Head Start’s largest annual gathering is going digital
The 2020 National Head Start Conference has gone digital! Although not what we’d originally planned, the online conference will allow everyone in the Head Start community to participate safely and affordably, and even attend nearly as many sessions as they would in a traditional on-site conference.
We will gather together April 21 - 23, from 11am - 5pm ET, for this critical opportunity for everyone to take a step away from the day-to-day and prepare for the next year.
There is so much uncertainty all across the country right now, but what is not uncertain is Head Start’s bedrock commitment to lifting up children and families in our communities. Now, perhaps more than ever, it is important for our community to stay connected, stand united, and meet this challenge together.
Many of us are isolated, but we are not alone. Will you join your peers from all across the country for this important moment in Head Start’s history?
Who should attend?
As the largest national conference devoted to all things Head Start, this year’s National Head Start Conference will once again bring everyone together for three days of sharing knowledge, networking with peers, and preparing for the year ahead.
At NHSA we are very intentionally designing the online conference to offer valuable content for everyone in Head Start so that no one is left behind. So whether you’re a Director, Administrator, Manager, Teacher, Policy Council Member, Parent, Community Partner, Board Member, or serve Head Start in another role, this conference is for you!
What will the daily schedule be like?
Just like an in-person conference, the sessions will begin at specific scheduled times, so you will be able to click into the session at the start time or a few minutes earlier. We encourage everyone to have their cameras on—but microphones muted—so that you can see all of your peers logging on from all across the country. Presenters will even have the option of creating breakout rooms with smaller groups of attendees for more intimate conversation. Each of the three days will each follow this schedule:
11:00 - 11:45am | Opening Plenary
12:00 - 12:45pm | Breakouts 1-3
1:00 - 1:45pm | Breakouts 1-3
2:00 - 2:45pm | Breakouts 1-3
3:00 - 3:45pm | Breakouts 1-3
4:00 - 5:00pm | Closing Plenary

Looking for resources for dealing with the impacts of COVID-19?
While we are working hard to transition the conference to a virtual experience, we are also collecting and creating resources for dealing with this pandemic. We have compiled helpful resources in the areas of health and safety, talking with young children about the current situation, medical information, and program administration resources.
